Travels and Studies
Elio
Gervasi
shape near the institutes of art of Messina and Rome.
It works near the studies of art of the sicialian sculpture
Mario Lucerna, of the painters Antonio Corpora, Carl Sagovich,
Antony Quiin, Paolo Veneziani, Renato Guttuso. In Orme
he found friends-artists as the scottish sculpture Robert
Brennen, the norwegian painter Bjorn Traaholt and the
swiss engraver Bruno Grosswailer. He travels in Belgium
bruxelles and bruges to discover the flemish painters
and in America to meet the american primitives.

Deepenings
The
first works of the artist concern the popular sicilian
art. It is expressed in the votive paintings, in the barrows
and in the representation of the knightly and epic cycle.
In the seventies he came into contact with the slav primitives
Ivan Generalic and Rabuzin
and looked at the flamish painting of Peters Cristus
and the one of William Gropper and Grant
Wood and at the magic stream of realism born
in Belgium. The sicilian historian Franz Riccobono
and the gallerist Vittorio Querel define
him a learned primitive, others as Beppe Palomba
e Aldo Righieri create for himself a
new painting stream called Neo Naif.
