"Elio
Gervasi’s painting, declared naive, but it could
be better named of the dream, of the memory, of the recollection
made by the passionate learning of the Sicily’s
tradition. Happiness, fun, serenity are the feeling that
Elio Gervasi’s painting trasmits to the people,
painting that attain from the mediterranean chromatism,
in a explosion of a very sunny brightness, as if it seems
artificial.
Light, myth, childhood’s tale are the elements transposed
on a figurative level with a oneiric taste. Dream, fly
on a homely and ideal landscape, without border the grotesque
that sometimes the dreams infuse. A candour that may reproduce
the scene of the popular sicilian painting, religious
painting where the human, too human, blended to the divine,
to the unreachable supernatural. So modern art inspired
by the myth, ingenuous painting in the appearance, but
cultured in the contents, immediate art, but conscious
of the chromatic potentiality of the palette".

"...he
flies up, with fantasy to deliver us non existent islands,
earthly paradises on the Earth representing the dream-child
of a better condition: Also the artist, roman by adoption,
set himself apart from the everyday world to celebrate
an ideal existence where everyone can find himself without
troubles, fears…friends of the animals, inhabitants
of magic islands hanging in the wind and above the see…"
